Dr Vivek Nair is a Gold Medalist from Maulana Azad Medical College, one of India’s premier medical institutions.
A high achiever since his school days, Dr Nair topped the AFMC All India Medical Entrance Examination in 1997. At the age of 17, he was featured on the cover of Junior Science Digest, a popular science magazine, for his outstanding higher secondary and pre-medical test results. Choosing to stay in Delhi he joined Maulana Azad Medical College and during MBBS was in the top 5% of his batch. Completing Internship from Lok Nayak Hospital, he then secured a top 1% rank in the Delhi State Post Graduate Medical Entrance Exam.
The next six years were spent in the Dermatology Dept. of Lok Nayak Hospital – one of India’s leading Dermatology training institutes; the first three as a post graduate student and the next three as a Senior Resident, in which capacity he gained valuable experience in medical dermatology, inpatient management and lasers. Dr Nair excelled during his time there, topping the MD Dermatology Exam (Delhi Univ) in 2007, for which he was awarded the Dr V.N. Sehgal Gold Medal for Excellence in Dermatology, Venereology & Leprology. That same year his work on the surgical treatment of post-acne scarring won him the ‘Best Young Dermatologist of the Year’ award at the annual conference of the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists & Leprologists, Delhi Chapter.
After leaving Lok Nayak Hospital Dr Nair set up his own practice, ‘Dr Nair’s Skin Clinic’ (DNSC), in Sec – 23 A, Gurgaon. At DNSC, he manages to strike a unique blend of cosmetic as well as medical dermatology and has years of experience with Botulinum Toxin (Botox), Fillers, Chemical Peels, Mesotherapy and Lasers. Dr Nair has trained in Miami, London, Singapore, and Tel Aviv and this international exposure keeps him at the cutting edge in his field.
Dr Nair continues to maintain an interest in academia and among other papers has co-authored a chapter on sexually transmitted diseases in ‘Treatments for Skin of Color’, an International Elsevier Publication (USA). He is a member of the Indian Academy of Dermatology, Venereology &Leprology (IADVL), Association of Cutaneous Surgeons of India (ACSI), Indian Society of Paediatric Dermatology (ISPD) and an associate member of the International Society of Dermatology (USA). He is also a reviewer for the Journal of Cutaneous & Aesthetic Surgery and Indian Dermatology Online Journal.
